Description
Cap egg-shaped to bell-shaped, Ø 7-19 cm, white, covered with long, fine, yellowish silky or hairy fibrils.
Gills pale pink to pink-brown.
Stem 7-19 cm x 7-20 mm, often curved, white, swollen at the base, which is enclosed in a large membranous, slightly sticky, dingy brown tiger-striped volva. Flesh white to yellowish. Smell of raw beans or radish.
Suspect.

Occurrence
On decayed wood, on wounds on the trunk and in hollows or at the base of deciduous trees (Maple, Beech, Poplar, Horse chestnut) in old deciduous woods, avenues and parks. Has also been found on buried wood, waste paper and cardboard.
Saprophyte.
