Mealy Shield Cap
Description
Cap bell-shaped to flattened convex with umbo, Ø 2-6 cm, dark brown to dark greyish brown or greenish grey-brown.
Gills whitish to pink-brown.
Stem 3-7 cm x 2-8 mm, whitish to greyish brown. Flesh grey. Smell faint.
Occurrence
Fairly common on decaying wood of deciduous trees in woods on rich soil, also on humus-rich soil and (as shown here, remaining relatively small) on Marram grass (Ammophila arenaria).
Saprophyte.
