Description
Cap bell-shaped to flattened convex, Ø 4-12 cm, sepia to dark brown.
Gills white to grey-pink.
Stem 7-10 x 1-2 cm, whitish, streaked with brown fibrils.
Edible.
Occurrence
Common on trunks, branches, stumps and buried wood of deciduous trees, rarely on wood of coniferous trees (Pine) or processed wood or bales of straw. Summer to autumn.
Saprophyte.
