King Oyster Mushroom
Description
Cap shell- or funnel-shaped to convex, with stem, Ø 5-10 cm, matt, finely fibrous-felted, dingy white or creamy ochre to grey-brown, incurvate at the margin.
Gills white to yellow or orange-yellow.
Stem 2-4 cm x 15-25 mm, eccentric, whitish to yellowish ochre. Flesh whitish. Taste mild, pleasant. Smell faint.
Edible.
Occurrence
On roots of Field Eryngo (Eryngium campestre) in grasslands on mineral-rich clay or sandy soil, often on dykes.
Parasitic.
