Description
Cap tongue- or spatula-shaped to shell-shaped, stem short, Ø 7-8 cm, smooth, matt; shiny when damp, white or cream to dingy yellow.
Gills decurrent, whitish.
Stem 1 cm long, eccentric, whitish. Flesh flexible, whitish. Taste mild. Smell faint, flour-like or of aniseed.

Occurrence
On living and dead trunks, stumps, and branches of deciduous trees (Beech, Willow) in woods and parks on rich soil, particularly in osier beds. Summer to autumn.
Saprophyte. (Parasitic).
