Description
Cap flattened bracket-like, with stem, Ø 4-15 cm, matt, fibrous-felted, white or cream to light or dark grey-brown, occasionally becoming yellowish, margin scored with evanescent velum.
Gills white or cream to yellowish, mottled brown, decurrent.
Stem 2-6 x 1-4 cm, eccentric, fibrous-felted, white to cream, occasionally with evanescent ring zone. Flesh whitish. Taste mild, nutty. Smell faint.
Suspect.

Occurrence
Not uncommon on wounds on living trunks and on dead trunks and stumps of deciduous trees (Beech, Oak, Poplar) in deciduous woods, parks and avenues.
Parasitic. (Saprophyte).
