Tiger-spot Wood Cap
Description
Cap funnel-shaped to depressed convex, Ø 4-10 cm, creamy to yellowish white, with fibrous, brown-black scales and acute, torn margin.
Gills decurrent, cream to yellowish, with serrate edge.
Stem 3-5 cm x 4-8 mm, creamy white, with grey-brown scales at the rooting base. Flesh whitish yellowish. Taste mild. Smell pleasant, fruity.
Suspect.
Occurrence
Fairly common on trunks, stumps and branches of deciduous trees (Willow, Ash, Beech) in osier beds on wet, rich clay and Ash coppice on sandy soil. Spring to autumn.
