Inocybe maculata

Description
Cap conical to bell-shaped with a strong umbo, Ø 2-8 cm, covered with long chestnut brown filaments, juveniles capped with a dense white woolly veil which remains on the umbo when young, from the rim radially splitting of breaking.
Gills pale greyish brown yellow with a white lamella edge.
Stem 3-8 cm x 5-12 mm, fibrous-floccose, white with brown tones. Flesh white. Smell strong, fruity.

Occurrence
Near deciduous trees in lanes, parks and forests on nutrient-rich clay, loam or sand.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
