Common Brown Fibre Cap
Description
Cap convex with umbo, Ø 1-3 cm, radially fibrous, grey-brown to reddish brown.
Gills white to loam-coloured with white edge.
Stem 2-3 cm x 3-6 mm, fibrous, brownish, pale at the apex, somewhat bulb-shaped swollen base. Flesh white. Taste mild. Smell flour-like.
Poisonous.
Occurrence
Common near deciduous and coniferous trees in woods on acid, sand and peat deficient in humus, often along paths.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
