Fastigiate Fibre Cap
Description
Cap conical to bell-shaped with umbo, Ø 2-8 cm, radially fibrous and splitting, straw-yellow to brown-yellow.
Gills yellowish loam-coloured with white edge.
Stem 3-7 cm x 4-12 mm, pale brown-yellow, white at the apex. Flesh white. Taste mild to bitter. Smell faint, flour-like.
Poisonous.
Occurrence
Fairly common near deciduous trees, occasionally near coniferous trees in avenues and parks or in woods and shrubberies on rich soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
