Deadly Pixy Cap
Description
Cap bell-shaped or convex to expanded, Ø 3-6 cm, sticky, ochre-brown, with finely striped margin when damp; matt, yellow to ochrous yellow-brown when dry.
Gills decurrent, light ochre-brown.
Stem 3-9 cm x 3-8 mm, light ochrous yellow at the apex, brownish fibrous below the ring, with yellow-brown zones, darker brown zones towards the base, base dark brown. Flesh yellowish to red-brown. Taste mild. Smell mushroom-like.
Poisonous.
Occurrence
On branches and trunks, especially on strongly decayed wood, usually of broad leaved trees, on rich soil.
