Cortinarius sodagnitus

Description
Cap convex to vaulted or expanding, Ø 4-7 cm, silky shiny when dry, shiny sticky when damp, in juvenile stage violet to wine red, later yellow ochre flecked, the upturned rim connected to the tuberous base by a lilac cortina.
Gills violet to rusty brown.
Stem 4-9 cm x 1-2 cm, violet, later with yellowish flecks, with a rimmed tuberous thickened base. Flesh whitish to lilac. Smell weak.
Spore-print colour rusty brown.
Suspicious.

Occurrence
Near Beeches on nutrient-rich and calcareous soils.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
