Cortinarius calochrous

Description
Cap vaulted to flattened with a somewhat depressed centre, Ø 4-6 cm, matt and sticky when dry, shiny and slimy when damp, in juvenile stage ivory white or cream to pale ochre yellow with a darker centre, the curved rim connected with the tuber base by a white fibrous cortina.
Gills pink violet or grey-lilac to rusty brown.
Stem 4-6 cm x 0.5-1 cm, whitish to yellowish or ochre-coloured, covered with yellowish veil remnant and with a broad white rimmed, discoid tuber base. Flesh white to lilac or yellowish. Smell weak, muddy.
Spore-print colour rusty brown.

Occurrence
Near Beech on somewhat calcareous soils.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
