Description
Cap convex to expanded with umbo, Ø 3-10 cm, chestnut- to olive-coloured brown with a paler centre and a wavy rim.
Gills olive-coloured brown to brown.
Stem 3-8 x 0.5-2.5 cm, sometimes with a violet top, further whitish to olive-coloured brown at the base, with a well-developed, pale-grey cortina and a swollen lower half. Flesh whitish to ochre-yellow-brown, often with a violet tinge. Smell weak, radish-like.
Spore-print colour rusty brown.

Occurrence
Near Beech or Oak in lanes and deciduous forests on calcareous and nutrient-rich clay or loam.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
