Obtuse Brittle Cap
Description
Cap bell-shaped to expanded, Ø 2-4 cm, matt, translucent striped, deeply dark red-brown when damp; reddish to black-brown when dry, acute margin with velar remnants.
Gills light brown to dark purple-brown.
Stem 4-7 cm x 3-6 mm, pruinose, whitish. Flesh light brown. Taste mild. Smell faint, spicy.
Suspect.
Occurrence
On humus soil in deciduous and mixed woods, parks and avenues on rich soil. Summer to autumn. Occasionally in clusters or groups.
