Description
Cap convex to flattened convex, Ø 4-6 cm, fibrous-woolly, white, cracking into dark brown, hairy scales on a red-brown background, with margins overhung with woolly-floccose velar remnants.
Gills light to dark brown, with ciliate, white edge.
Stem 6-8 cm x 10-15 mm, silky, whitish, white falling woolly-fibrous scales below the fibrous-woolly ring. Flesh whitish. Smell none.

Occurrence
On stumps and buried wood of coniferous trees in woods on poor, acid sandy soil. Tufted.
Saprophyte.
