Silvery Brittle Cap
Description
Cap conical to bell-shaped, Ø 2-4 cm, smooth, shiny, translucent striped, red-brown, with ochraceous tinge at the centre when damp; dingy beige to grey-beige when dry.
Gills light brown to dark purple-brown.
Stem 9-14 cm x 3-4 mm, hollow, fragile, silky, whitish beige, pruinose at the apex. Flesh cream. Taste mild. Smell none.
Suspect.
Occurrence
Common on pieces of wood and wood chips, occasionally on humus-rich soil, in parks, public gardens, roadsides and woods. Often in groups. Summer to autumn.
Saprophyte.
