Ox-eye Lepiota
Description
Cap globose or egg-shaped to expanded, Ø 15-30 mm, matt, with granular-fibrous, dark brown to black scales on a white background, centre smooth, black-brown, and floccose at the margin.
Gills white.
Stem 3-5 cm x 2-3 mm, fragile, white pruinose, with membranous, pendulous, white ring. Flesh white. Taste mild. Smell none.
Occurrence
Fairly common on very humus-rich soil or soil covered with coarse litter, especially in deciduous woods. Summer to autumn.
Saprophyte.
