Description
Less than 1cm: Use magnifying glass.
Cap bell-shaped, Ø 5-12 mm, striped-furrowed, cream to mouse-grey with ochre centre, covered with fine, white, hairy-woolly veil when young.
Gills whitish to brown-black.
Stem 3-5 cm x 1 mm, fragile, translucent white; occasionally light yellow at the base. Flesh grey-white. Taste mild. Smell none.

Occurrence
Common on wood, especially on dead stumps and trunks of deciduous trees, occasionally on the bark of living trees and on buried wood, in deciduous woods, parks and gardens on damp, fertile soil. Spring to autumn.
Saprophyte.
