Coprinus auricomus

Description
Less than 1cm: Use magnifying glass.
Cap ovoid or campanulate to expanded, Ø 15-45 mm, 10-25 mm high, shiny, wrinkled-striped, chestnut or rusty brown to grey-brown, with smooth, dark brown centre and fine, upturned hairs, margin notched-serrated.
Gills whitish to brown black.
Stem 5-11 cm x 2-4 mm, hollow, fragile, smooth, whitish yellowish. Flesh grey-brown. Taste mild. Smell faint.

Occurrence
On (buried) wood debris on wood-chip paths or among grass in lawns. Summer to autumn.
Saprophyte.
