Glistening Ink Cap
Description
Cap ovoid to campanulate, Ø 1-3 cm, 10-25 mm high, radially striped furrowed, ochre or honey-yellowish brown to grey-black, covered with granular white to brown veil, with torn margin.
Gills white to lilac-grey or black.
Stem 3-10 cm x 2-5 mm, brittle, mealy white pruinose, base becoming yellowish. Flesh olive-brown. Taste mild. Smell none.
Suspicious.
Occurrence
In clusters or groups on dead stumps, trunks and thick branches of broad-leaved trees in broad-leaved woods, parks and road sides on rich soil. Spring to autumn.
Saprophyte.
