Description
Cap ovoid to campanulate, Ø 2-4 cm, 1-3 cm high, cream with light ochrous brown centre, with fibrillose, brown scales when young, later with granular, whitish scales and striped furrowed margin.
Gills white to purplish brown-black.
Stem 3-8 cm x 2-9 mm, downy, white, yellowish at the base. Flesh whitish. Taste mild. Smell faint. Usually growing from an orange-brown to rusty brown hyphal mat or ozonium (39.jpg).
Suspicious.

Occurrence
On dead branches, stumps and trunks of broad-leaved trees (Poplar, Adler, Maple) on rich soil. Spring to autumn.
Saprophyte.
