Description
Cap campanulate to expanded, Ø 3-10 cm, 3-8 cm high, smooth, matt, radially striped-wrinkled, beige-ochre to light grey, with a light ochrous brown centre and an acute, cracking margin.
Gills close, white to black.
Stem 4-15 cm x 8-15 mm, smooth, whitish, with a swollen ring zone at the base. Flesh whitish. Taste mild. Smell faint.
Poisonous.

Occurrence
Often in clusters on (buried) broad-leaved wood, roots and stumps. Summer to autumn.
Saprophyte.
