Description
Cap ovoid to campanulate, Ø 2-5 cm, 5-15 cm high, white, with light yellow-brown, smooth centre and large, fibrillose, white to yellow-brown scales and torn, deliquescent margin.
Gills white or pink to black.
Stem 10-20 x 1-3 cm, white to cream, with a movable, narrow, white ring. Flesh white. Taste mild. Smell faint, pleasant.
Edible.

Occurrence
Often in groups on recently dug, rich soil on dykes, in fields, lawns, pastures, roadsides, parks and on the edge of woods. Summer to autumn.
Saprophyte.
