Bossed Lepiota
Description
Cap globose, then convex with central, acute papilla, Ø 8-11 cm, with smooth, buff brown centre, white to creamy ochre, with fine, pale ochrous to light brown, granular scales and overhanging scales producing a denticulate margin. Gills white to cream.
Stem 8-11 cm x 8-14 mm, cream to light brown, with whitish, granular scales and a thick, white ring, slightly swollen white-felted base. Flesh white to pink-brown. Smell faint.
Edible.
Occurrence
In grazed dune pastures, roadsides and mixed woods on dry, poor sandy soil.
