Description
Fruit-body irregularly dome-shaped to bulbous, Ø 3-7 cm, with a long stem. Outer surface smooth at first, later covered with small, brownish scales, yellowish to brown.
Stem 2-4 cm long, rooting with yellowish mycelium strands, grooved, smooth, whitish cream to yellowish. Flesh olive-brown.
Poisonous.

Occurrence
Near broad-leaved trees on rich, humus-rich soils in woods, parks, avenues, heaths and shrubberies.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
