Description
Fruit-body irregularly dome- to bulbous, Ø 4-10 cm. Outer surface coarsely scaly, dingy yellow or green-yellow to ochrous brown. Flesh purple-black, white-veined.
Poisonous.

Occurrence
Near broad-leaved trees (Oak, Birch), occasionally near coniferous trees, on humus-rich sandy soils in woods, parks, avenues, heaths and shrubberies. Paracitized by Boletus parasiticus (774.jpg).
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
