(Pear-shaped Puffball)
Description
Fruit-body pear-shaped, Ø 2-4 cm, 1-6 cm high, with stem. Upper part granular, whitish or buff-flesh to chestnut, with a central opening. Stem 1-3 cm long, with fine, dark scales, whitish or buff to brown, with whitish rhizomorphs. Flesh white to olive-brown, white in the stem. Edible.
Occurrence
In groups on decayed stumps and wood of broad-leaved trees on rich soil.
