Description
Fruit-body flattened cylindrical to narrowly club-shaped, forked to branched into an antler shape, 3-7 x 0.5-1 cm. Upper part black, warty with ostioles, conidia powdered white. March to April.
Stem hairy, black.

Occurrence
On dead branches, wood chips and stumps of broad-leaved trees (for young specimens see Hymenoscyphus salicinus).
Saprophyte.
