Description
Fruit-body cup-shaped, occasionally torn on one side (like Otidea onotica), Ø 2-7 cm. Inner surface yellow-brown with violet tinge to olive- or purple-brown. Outer surface felted-scurfy, ochrous yellow-brown to green-yellow or purple-brown, white-felted at the base. Flesh yielding a watery milk turning yellow after some time.

Occurrence
On clay, loam or sand underneath broad-leaved and coniferous trees.
Saprophyte.
