Description
Fruit-body 8-17 cm. Cap 4-10 x 2-8 cm, longitudinal conical- to pear-shaped with pointy to somewhat rounded tip, vertical ribs connected with numerous horizontal ribs, regularly ordered irregularly-shaped to round, angular alveoli. Alveoli olive-grey or grey-yellow to brownish grey-yellow or dingy ochre, ribs dark brown to black. Margin separated from stem by sterile furrow.
Stem hollow, occasionally broader at the base, often deformed and furrowed at the base and tip, grainy or warty-floccose, whitish or pale (brownish) cream to greyish yellow, 4-7 x 1-6 cm. Flesh pale, elastic. Smell pleasant. Taste mild.
Edible.

Occurrence
Solitary or in groups on nitrogen-rich locations in parks, gardens, broad-leaved and mixed woods. April to June.
