Familia Gomphidiaceae

A small group of Agarics resembling antique, hand-forged hobnails or rivets, with thick, decurrent distant gills and a slimy or cobweb-like velum, which leaves a ring zone on the stipe. Mycorrhizal parasites. Spores brown, brown-black. In Britain 5 species of the genera Chroogomphus and Gomphidius occur.
