A large group of Agarics occurring mainly in grassland and shrubberies and exceptionally (with eccentric stipe) on wood, with adnate, decurrent or nearly free gills discolouring pink with spores. Spores pink. In Britain about 175 species of the genus Entoloma occur. Most species can only be identified with certainty by microscopic characters.
