Fibre Caps

An extensive group of usually small Agarics with radially fibrillose or scaly, conical caps or expanded caps with a central umbo and torn margin, some of them with a swollen bulbous base. Forming ectomycorrhiza. Spores pale grey-brown. In Britain more than 120 species of the genus Inocybe occur. Most species can only be identified with certainty by microscopic characters.
