Ordo Pezizales

A group of fungi with a high number of species including the genera Morchella, Helvella and Peziza, which show a rich variety of shapes. They grow on the soil, on sites of fires and on mosses, rotting wood, paper, straw, fibres, compost, manure, cement and damp walls. They have opercular asci, sacs with a small cover on top that opens on ripening and that usually turns blue in Melzer ’s reagent (14.jpg).
