Ordo Elaphomycetales

A group of fungi, which develop partly above ground or fully underground and mostly occur as ectomycorrhizal symbionts of trees and bushes. They have operculate asci with a lid at the ascus tip which opens when the spores are ripe. The lid mostly turns blue in Melzer ’s reagent.
