Wavy-capped Chanterelle
Description
Fruit-body trumpet to funnel-shaped. Cap Ø 1-5 cm, depressed, with scored, undulate, lighter margin, loam-coloured grey-brown or nut-brown to sepia. Lower surface irregularly veined-ribbed, beige to grey-beige.
Stem 3-6 cm x 3-8 mm, hollow, grooved, sand-yellow to brown-beige, with tapering base. Flesh soft, fibrous, grey-brown. Smell fruity.
Spore-print colour white.
Edible.
Occurrence
Near deciduous trees (Oak, Beech) in woods and avenues on clay and poor sandy or loamy soils. Often in tufts or groups.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
