Description
Cap hemispherical to convex, Ø 3-6 cm, matt, scarlet to wine-red, with pale margin.
Tubes lemon-yellow to greenish. Pores large, angular, lemon yellow, turning blue on bruising.
Stem 4-7 cm x 10-15 mm, lemon-yellow or chrome-yellow at the apex, red, with rusty brown base. Flesh yellowish brown to wine red, turning slightly bluish. Taste none. Smell faint.
Spore-print colour olive-brown.
Edible.
Occurrence
Fairly common among grass near deciduous trees..
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
