Russula parazurea

Description
Cap convex to plane, Ø 4-6 cm, blue pruinose, matt, blue-green to leaden greyish blue, occasionally with beige to pale brown centre.
Gills close, forked, white to cream.
Stem 3-5 cm x 10-15 mm, white, with swollen base. Flesh white. Taste mild. Smell of cheese when old.
Spore-print colour cream.
Edible.

Occurrence
Common near deciduous trees (Oak, Beech, Lime), occasionally near coniferous trees along lanes and in woods on sandy soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
