Russula amoenolens

Description
Cap convex to plane with depressed centre, Ø 3-6 cm, sticky, sepia to greyish sepia, with furrowed-grooved margin.
Gills adnexed, cream to dingy whitish, edge turning brown.
Stem 3-6 x 1-2 cm, whitish. Flesh white. Taste very pungent. Smell rancid.
Spore-print colour pale cream.

Occurrence
Common near deciduous trees (Oak, Birch, Lime) in avenues, parks and woods.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
