Wrinkled Peach
Description
Cap fan-shaped to convex, with stem, Ø 4-15 cm, salmon-pink to flesh, often with wrinkled, veined centre.
Gills pale flesh-pink, occasionally with yellowish blotches.
Stem 2-4 cm x 6-17 mm, eccentric, whitish, mottled pink, with a pink-brown to yellow-brown base. Flesh gelatinous, salmon to pink. Taste bitter. Smell strong, pleasant, fruity.
Spore-print colour white.
Occurrence
On dead standing and lying trunks of deciduous trees (e.g. Elm).
Saprophyte.
