Description
Cap hemispherical, then flattened expanded, Ø 4-12 cm, smooth, radially fibrous striped, scaly, light to dark grey-brown with ochrous or pale olive-green tinge, with torn, scored margin.
Gills distant, whitish cream.
Stem 3-5 cm x 10-14 mm, tough, striped, whitish pruinose, light grey-brown, with white mycelium strands. Flesh white. Smell faint, musty.
Suspect.

Occurrence
Common on wood debris, buried wood of deciduous trees and woodland litter. Summer to autumn.
Saprophyte.
