(Brick Top or Brick-red Hypholoma)
Description
Cap convex, Ø 3-10 cm, brick-red, with whitish to ochre marginal zone with fibrous velar remnants.
Gills cream or pale yellow to olive-brown.
Stem 5-12 cm x 5-12 mm, pale yellow, below the cortinal zone ochre-brown. Flesh pale yellowish, Taste bitter. Smell mushroomy.
Suspect.
Occurrence
Common on trunks, stumps and thick branches of deciduous trees (Oak, Birch, Beech) in deciduous woods. In groups.
