Dusky Scale Head
Description
Cap hemispherical to plane, Ø 3-8 cm, slimy, with white scales when young, pale whitish cream or greyish ochre, with browner centre and paler at the margin.
Gills close, whitish to loam-brown.
Stem 3-6 cm x 6-12 mm, whitish, from the ring zone with whitish, fibrous-floccose scales on a brown background. Flesh whitish to creamy ochre. Smell of radish.
Occurrence
Common on wood debris (hidden in humus) in deciduous (Beech) and coniferous woods.
Saprophyte.
