Description
Cap vaulted to expanded with a small bump in the somewhat depressed centre, Ø 2-14 cm, slimy-shiny, bright egg yolk yellow with a light orange brown centre, with orange brown acute-triangular scales positioned in concentric zones and with white to yellow brown veil flakes along the rim.
Gills beige yellow or yellow to yellow brown or cinnamon brown with a whitish mealy lamella edge.
Stem 2-8 cm x 1-8 mm, dry, whitish or yellowish to pale orange brown at the base, with white flaky scales below the ring-shaped zone. Flesh cream-coloured or pale yellow to thin grey beige or yellow brown to rusty brown. Smell weak, after raw potatoes. Taste mild to bitter.
Occurrence
On soft or hardwood (Poplar, Birch, Alder) in deciduous and mixed forests on loam and clay soils.
Parasitic, (Saprophyte).
