Description
Cap conical or bell-shaped to expanded, Ø 8-10 cm, white pruinose, honey-yellow to pale ochre-brown, with velar remnants at the torn cap margin when young.
Gills cream to pale ochre-brown, with scored edge.
Stem 7-9 cm x 10-15 mm, finely fibrous whitish to fibrous rusty brown, with a membranous, striped ring. Flesh watery, cream. Taste mild. Smell faint, pleasant.
Spore-print colour rusty yellow.
Edible.
Occurrence
Near Scots pine, occasionally also near deciduous trees, in coniferous and mixed woods on poor, dry sandy soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
