Bitter Flame Cap
Description
Cap convex to plane, Ø 3-8 cm, smooth, golden yellow or orange-yellow to brown-yellow.
Gills golden yellow, spotted brown.
Stem 4-7 cm x 5-10 mm, brown with whitish scales, yellow at the apex and white-felted at the base. Flesh yellow. Taste bitter. Smell strong, sweet.
Occurrence
Common on branches and trunks of deciduous trees (Oak, Birch, Beech) and coniferous trees in woods on poor sand or loam.
