Flammulaster carpophilus var. subincarnatus
Description
Less then 1 cm: Use magnifying glass.
Cap bell-shaped to convex with a small blunt umbo, Ø 5-10 mm, smooth, matt, fine whitish grained, on a flesh-coloured brown background, frosted with a darker red-brown centre and a lighter brown to cream, smooth, sharp rim.
Gills cream beige to light pink brown, broadly attached.
Stem 15-35 x 0.5-1.2 mm, smooth, matt, light flesh-coloured when young, later on flesh-coloured brown, white floccose. Flesh grey brown.
Occurrence
On fruits and bud scales of Beech in deciduous forests and mixed forests on nutrient deficient to nutrient-rich sand soils.
Saprophyte.
