Scaly Brittle Cap
Description
Cap hemispherical to flattened bell-shaped, Ø 15-35 mm, with white, woolly velar remnants on an ochre-brown background, margin overhung with velar remnants.
Gills cream to dark red-brown.
Stem 3-5 cm x 2-4 mm, white fibrous-floccose on a light background, occasionally with evanescent, floccose ring when young. Flesh cream to brownish. Taste mild. Smell none.
Suspect.
Occurrence
Common on dead branches and wood debris of deciduous and coniferous trees, or on the ground, in woods, occasionally in avenues and on heaths, on poor, acid soil.
Saprophyte.
