Description
Cap globose, then convex to plane, Ø 7-9 cm, white or silver grey to yellowish, somewhat viscid, covered with white to ochrous, coarse conical warty scales and toothed vela remnants, hanging from the margin.
Gills close, white cream, with a flesh sheen and ciliate margin.
Stem 8-10 cm x 10-15 mm, whitish creamy, with a white creamy hanging woolly floccose ring with warts at the margin and with a white cream volva around the swollen base. Flesh white with a greenish tinge. Smell unpleasant.
Spores pale green.
Suspicious.

Occurrence
Near broad-leaved trees (Oak, Beech) in broad-leaved woods and avenues on river clay and calcareous loam. Favouring lime and warmth.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
